Welcome to Sophira ('we', 'our', or 'us'). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, store, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and related services.\n\nSophira is an AI-powered learning product that may include text chat, live voice tutoring, topic narrations, narration feedback, quiz generation and analysis, collaborative study features, notifications, advertising, and personalization tools.\n\nPlease read this policy carefully. If you disagree with its terms, please discontinue use of the app immediately.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly, such as account/profile details, learning preferences, support messages, and content you submit while using app features (for example chat, tutor, narration, and quiz inputs).

We also collect information automatically, such as device/app details, usage analytics, diagnostics, notification delivery data, and advertising identifiers/signals where permitted by applicable law and platform settings.

We only collect data that is reasonably necessary to provide, secure, personalize, and improve Sophira.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, maintain, and secure the Sophira application.
  • Personalize your learning experience based on your preferences, activity, and progress.
  • Generate AI responses, narrations, tutor interactions, quiz flows, recommendations, and feedback using your inputs.
  • Support collaborative learning features and synchronize shared activity where applicable.
  • Send push notifications, reminders, content readiness updates, operational alerts, and other service-related messages.
  • Display and measure advertising where applicable.
  • Analyze aggregate usage patterns, improve reliability, diagnose issues, and enhance feature quality.
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, misuse, and other prohibited activity.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

Where analytics controls are available in the app, you may disable analytics collection from Settings → Usage Analytics.

We do NOT use your data to:

  • sell your personal information to third parties,
  • make fully automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects without appropriate review,
  • use your content to train general-purpose AI models without a valid legal basis or your consent where consent is required.

4. Advertising & Third-Party Services

Sophira may use trusted third-party service providers for functionality such as hosting, authentication, notifications, analytics, and advertising. These providers process limited data on our behalf only as needed to operate, secure, improve, and measure the service.

Advertisements shown in the app may be personalized or non-personalized depending on your device settings, platform permissions, and applicable law. You can manage relevant advertising and tracking preferences through your device or platform settings where available.

We require service providers to handle data under appropriate legal and contractual safeguards.

5. Data Storage & Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect your information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, misuse, and loss. These safeguards may include encrypted transport, access controls, authentication protections, environment separation, monitoring, and other security practices appropriate to the nature of the service.

Despite our best efforts, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain personal data for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain your account, support product functionality, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, comply with legal obligations, and protect the integrity of the platform.

Retention may vary by data category. For example:

  • account and profile data may be retained until account deletion,
  • chat, tutor, narration, quiz, and collaborative records may be retained until you delete them, request deletion, or your account is removed,
  • messaging identifiers and notification records may be retained while they remain operationally necessary,
  • logs and diagnostics may be retained for limited periods appropriate to security and debugging needs,
  • aggregated or de-identified analytics may be retained longer where legally permitted.

You can delete your account directly in the app from Profile → Edit Profile → Delete account. When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required or permitted by law.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to Rectification: request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Right to Erasure: request deletion of your personal data.
  • Right to Restriction: request that we limit certain processing activities.
  • Right to Data Portability: receive eligible data in a structured, commonly used format.
  • Right to Object: object to certain types of processing.
  • Right to Withdraw Consent: where processing is based on consent, withdraw that consent at any time.

Where available, you may also manage certain privacy-related choices directly within the app, such as analytics preferences. Account deletion is available in Profile → Edit Profile → Delete account.

To exercise other privacy rights, please use the in-app Support form (Profile → Settings → Support). We will review and respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

8. Children's Privacy

Sophira is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the European Union). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under these ages.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us immediately through the in-app Support form. We will take steps to delete such information within 30 days.

If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under the applicable age limit without verified parental consent, we will delete that information immediately.

9. International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your country of residence, including countries where some of our service providers or partners operate. Where required, we use appropriate legal, contractual, and organizational safeguards for cross-border transfers, which may include standard contractual clauses, adequacy decisions, or other recognized transfer mechanisms.

10. Cookies & Similar Technologies

Our mobile application may use device storage, identifiers, SDK-level persistence, and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember settings, deliver notifications, support analytics, improve reliability, and provide advertising or measurement functionality where applicable. You can manage some of these preferences through your device or platform settings.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by:

  • Displaying an in-app announcement.
  • Sending a push notification (if enabled).
  • Updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy.

Your continued use of the app after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
